In the face of the on-going fued engulfing some communities in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi state, His Royal Highness, the Ohi of Ihima and Obobanyi of Emani, Ahmed Abdulraheed has been charged to ensure that peace reigns supreme in his domain.

The Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engineer Abubakar Ohere gave the charge at a reconciliatory meeting between the two village heads of the warring communities and the Administrator of Okehi Local Government in his office on friday.

He stressed the need for the royal fathers to ensure that peace, love and harmony were sustained in their respective domains, saying that the only way to reciprocate government gesture in the provision of basic infrastrure to the area was through the promotion of unity amongst their subjects.

According to the Special Adviser, “There cannot be any meaniful development in any community without peace and traquility”

Ohere warned the traditional rulers in the warring communities that they would be held responsible for further break down of law and order in their domains.

He directed the Administrator of Okehi Local Government Area, Hon. Ohiare Abdulraheed to convey the decision of government on the sad development towards ensuring amicable resolution on the lingering communual clashes.

Responding, the Administrator of Okehi Local Government Area, Ohiare Abdulraheed commended the state government for its quick intervention to resolve the crisis that had wreck hovoc on the warring communities.

He expressed his readiness to abide by the directive of the state government in bringing lasting solution to the problem, calling on the relevant stakeholders in the zone to embrace peace and unity to boost the progress of their communities.

In a related development, the Kogi state Government has inaugurated a Committee for appointment of Qualified and Rightful candidates to ascend the vacant Traditional Stools in the state.

The Seceretary to the State Government, Mrs. Ayoade Folashade in her inaugural speech said that the committee is to determine the existing vacant Traditional Stools across the three senatorial district of the state with a view to filling them by rightful candidates.

According to the SSG, the state government would continue to hold traditional institutions in the state with high esteem considering their uniqueness, sensitivity and role in the development of any society.

The committee has Hon Edward Onoja, the Chief of Staff to the Governor as Chairman while the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Abubakar Ohere will serve as secretary.

Other members of the committee include: Cadr. Jerry Omodara(Rtd), State Security Adviser, Hajia Lawal Lamy, Director Chieftaincy, Secretary Ebira Area Traditional Council, Okun Area Traditional Council, Kogi Area Traditional Council, Igala Area Traditional Council, Bassa Area Traditional Council and Mr. Alhassan Daniel, Chief Admin Officer(Cabinet), Representative of SSG.

Responding on behalf of members, the chairman of the committee, Edward Onoja promised that the committee would justify the confidence reposed in them and thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity.
