The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that a clergy, Micheal Adebayo has advised parents to instill ethical and moral values in children at their early stage of lives.

Adebayo, of the Christ Apostolic Church, Garki-Abuja, gave the advice at the Fruitful Welfare Initiative for Women and Children (FWIWC) 2016 love feast held on Sunday in Abuja.

FWIWC is a non-profit, non-political and Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO) that is committed to social wellbeing and economic empowerment of Children and women.

Adebayo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that such early life training would be of great benefits to the children, families and the nation at large.

He said that the lost of moral and ethical values in the families was responsible for corruption and other societal ills being witnessed in Nigeria.

“When you train a child in the right way at the early stage of life, he will not depart from it.

“Just like the story of Daniel in the Bible, as a young boy, he refused to eat the food that was meant for idols because he was trained at the early stage.

“Our values are being lost today just because the parents refused to train the children at their early stage.

“We are looking at them as old school and new school era. That is very wrong.

“That is why we are having alot of misbehaviours.

“The word of God is very clear when it says that children should honour your parents that you may be blessed and your days may be long.”

Adebayo said that these and some others values are no longer there in the society.

“Corruption that we are talking about is not just the issue of government or churches, it start from home.”

Adebayo also urged schools and accedemic institutions to ensure that children were taught on values that would help to improve the society.

Mrs Caroline Fadoju, who is the Executive Director of FWIWC said that the aim of the NGO in organising the anual love feast and it’s other programmes was to encourage proper up bringing of Children.

“It is to assist children to learn things that will transform their lives.

“It is to assist them to learn motivational thoughts that will make them achieve their dreams and the plans of God for them,” Fadoju said.

She said that the initiative which started 16 year ago had been nutured to become a registered NGO that offers free medical care, aids and empowerment skills for the women and children, youths and the vulnerable in the society.(NAN)
