‘It all begins today’ Trump tweets

Donald Trump, the U.S. President-in-waiting, took to his twitter handle on Friday morning to announced that his long-awaited presidency “begins today”.

The Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Trump is expected to be sworn-in at around noon  (6 p.m. Nigerian time), taking over from President Barack Obama who ends his second and final term as the 44th president.

“It all begins today!

“I will see you at 11:00 A.M. for the swearing-in.

“THE MOVEMENT CONTINUES – THE WORK BEGINS!” Trump tweeted.

Trump had earlier tweeted that he was on his way to the inauguration and encouraged his supporters to throng the Capitol Hill inauguration venue amid protest against his inauguration.

“On my way! #Inauguration2017

“Getting ready to leave for Washington, D.C.

“The journey begins and I will be working and fighting very hard to make it a great journey for the American people.

“I have no doubt that we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Following the growing protests against his inauguration, he tweeted that America had been divided before his election, quoting Rev. Franklin Graham.

“‘It wasn’t Donald Trump that divided this country, this country has been divided for a long time!’ Stated today by Rev. Franklin Graham”, Trump tweeted.

Trump won the Nov. 8, 2016 presidential election by electoral college vote but lost the popular vote to Democratic Hillary Clinton by 2.9 million votes.

Hillary Clinton is expected to be present at the inauguration with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, according to her aide. (NAN)
