An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Etsako Federal Constituency by-election in Edo State, Blessing Agbonmhere, said he is confident of victory at the party’s primary election holding on Saturday.
Agbonmhere said this on Friday in Benin while addressing journalists, debunked rumours that he has stepped down for his co-contestant, Johnson Oghuma.
He said APC has no anointed candidate for the primary, hence the issue of stepping down for anybody does not even arise in the first place.
“There would be primary for the by-election into the Etsako Federal constituency so I want the people to know that I am contesting the primary. I am in the race because I was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s struggle for change,” he said.
The aspirant said he is contesting the election, not for himself, but to empower the people of Etsako and make national opportunities accessible to them, adding that Etsako needs a viable and profitable representation.
“Etsako people have seen quality representation in me. I am more qualified because of my youthfulness and I believe that the development of Etsako rest on the shoulder of the younger generation. We need human with capacity and ability which I possess,” he disclosed.
While noting that delegates and leaders of party in the area had seen him as a material to be sent to National Assembly to represent them, Agbonmhere said people are spreading the rumour thinking it would give them advantage.
