Aderanti: confirmed release of the students and staff of Turkish school

Five members of staff and five students of the Nigeria-Turkish International School kidnapped from their school premises in  Isheri area of Ogun State by unknown gunmen have been released after 11 days in captivity.

Channels Television reports that  Assistant Inspector General of Police In charge Of Zone 2 Lagos, Kayode Aderanti,  confirmed that the victims were released by their abductors at about 8:35PM on Tuesday through the bush path behind the school compound in Isheri, Ogun State.

The television station also reported that a member of the management team who would not want to be named hinted  to it that all the victims had regained their freedom and have been taken to the hospital for medical check-up.

The new Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) , Zone 2, Kayode Aderanti, had earlier on Tuesday gave an assurance  that the kidnapped students and staff  would be released within 24 hours.

Aderanti gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen shortly after his visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his   hill top residence in Abeokuta.

The AIG, however  denied rumours that the families of the victims had  been paying ransom,  insisting that  “no ransom has been paid.’’
