Leaders of the All Progressive Congress in the South West, led by the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu stormed Ibadan, Capital of Oyo State to hold a meeting on the repositioning of the South West to occupy its rightful position in the country.

Apart from the host governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, others governors present include: Akinwumi Ambode, Lagos; Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Osun and Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun.

Among the leaders present at the meeting which was held in the Agodi Governor’s office were: former Governor of Ekiti and Minister for Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu; Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola, SAN; Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole; Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed and his Finance counterpart Mrs. Kemi Adeosun. Former governor of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Ogun state Chief Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Osun state, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Olusola Adeyeye, and Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila were also there.

They told the newsmen that the party in the region had resolved to re-assert its influence in the progressive politics of the country, maintaining that there is no division among the party members in the region.

They also said that they have resolved all issues concerning the governance of the country and what should be the role and influence of the group in the interest of the country and for the progress of the people

Addressing the media at the end of a caucus meeting, Aremo Osoba said the group has examined the government that it is involved in bringing about and have also reviewed all issues concerning the governance of the country adding that the party leader would forward all issues discussed to the appropriate quarters.

He further noted that the leaders have also related with the party representatives at the National Assembly, the governors, other party leaders on all issues discussed exhaustively at the meeting, assuring that henceforth, there would be total unity and due consultation among the governors for the development of the region and the country at large.

According to him, “For God’s sake, we are the leaders of the progressive in this country and we are determined to re-assert our interest in the progressive politics of this country and for the betterment of Nigeria. We have come out with a resolution to show that in the South West of APC, we are one. We are together on all issues concerning the governance of this country and what should be the role and the influence that should be exercise as a group or the interest of this country and the progress of this country. We have examined what the government we were all involved in bringing about is doing and we have reviewed all issues concerning the governance of the country. We have related with our representatives at the National Assembly, our governors, our other party leaders on all issues and we discussed them exhaustively. I can assure you that from now onwards, there will be total unity and due consultation among the governors for the development of the region and the country at large”.
