Oyo Police parades alleged human ‘head sellers,’ cultists

The Oyo state police command on Friday paraded two suspects: Saheed Adeyemi,33, and Michael Edemba, 60, who allegedly specialised in trading in human heads for ritual purposes and other 75 notorious criminal suspects. 

Speaking to newsmen, Saheed, an herbalist, residing at Awosonso village, Apata, said that his gang bought the human head at N15,000 at a shop in Abiodogun junction, Omi-Adio from a yet-to-be-identified woman for the purpose of making money rituals. 

The duo told the newsmen that they regretted their action saying that if they were left loose of the crime, they would turn a new leave and would not go back to the criminal world.

Also, the command paraded  leaders of the Ibadan based two notorious cult groups identified as One million boys and Abe igi boys who in the course of terrorizing some areas of Ibadan at different period caused the death and maiming of many people as well as destroying property worth millions of naira.

The cultists, Moshood Oladokun aka Ekugbemi, Adebayo Saheed and Adeleke Wasiu had been on the wanted list of the police for various violent clashes in the Ibadan metropolis.
Other members of the cults arrested were, Mutiu Lawal, Habib Oladiti, Akinkunmi Abioye, Marouf Kolapo, Abiodun Omoyeni, Azeez Fatai, Mustapha Rasheed, Ismaila Soliu, Sarafadeen Gbadamosi and eight others.


Item recovered from the groups include a burnt motorcycle, expended cartridges and 20 pellets among others.
Speaking, the state commissioner of police, Samuel Adegbuyi said that Ekugbemi was responsible for the spate of violence in places like Beers, Born photo, Isale Osi, Mapo, Ido Aro and several other parts of Ibadan.

According to him, “During such violence leading to arson, looting, destruction of valuable property, maiming and senseless murder using dangerous weapons with which the miscreants inflicted pains and caused apprehension to innocent people in the affected areas. However, through intensive investigation arising from high level intelligence, Ekugbemi was located in his criminal hideout at Ajah area of Lagos”.

He noted further that leaders of the rival cult groups and their hatch men escaped afterwards and had since been elusive.
