It was festival of rally of sorts in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on Monday as two groups in support and against government took to the streets to make their voices heard.

Members of the two groups who were armed with beautifully decorated banners and posters convened at the popular Unity Fountain where they later proceeded for the rally under close watch of well armed police officers.

The anti government protesters protested under the aegis of #ISTANDWITHNIGERIA, while the pro government protesters are of the Buhari Volunteer Network, BVN.

While #ISTANDWITHNIGERIA protesters said their rally is against the policies of the current government, BVN leaders told journalists that they are out to point out the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress, APC, government to Nigerians.

Prominent among those protesting against the Buhari’s administration is former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Chidi Odikalu. Here are images from anti government protest as captured by FEMI IPAYE. You can see photos from the pro government protests here.
