Members of the Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday returned a bill sent to them for consideration by the state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Consideration of the bill which seeks to proscribe illegal collection of levies and fees by Community Development Association (CDS), was disrupted, following discovery that it was signed by the Governor’s Principal Private Secretary.

The executive bill is seeking to prohibit forcibly entry and illegal occupation of landed properties, violent and fraudulent conduct in relation to landed properties, proscribe the collection of land-based community development fees, levies by community development associations.
Soon after the Speaker, Hon. Justice Okonoboh introduced the bill, dated 7th February, Hon. Kabiru Adjotor, member representing Akoko Edo Constituency 1, moved a motion declining debating on it saying that it was sent in error.
Consequently, the member representing, Oredo East Constituency, Chris Okaiben, moved for an adjournment for one hour, for the bill to be returned for assent by either the Governor or the Secretary to the State Government.
The motion was seconded by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Foly Ogedegbe.
