Governor Bindow Jibrilla of Adamawa State

The Adamawa government says it will revive all the dormant Skills Acquisition Centres in the state as part of efforts to address youth unemployment.

Gov. Mohammed Bindow stated this on Monday while inspecting one of the centres located in Numan town of Numan Local Government Area in the state.

He said that the rate of unemployment in the state was worrisome,adding that reviving the centres would enable youth imbibe some skills and become self employed.

“Today is one of the special days for this administration, especially as it demonstrates our zeal for job creation through provision of skills to our youths.
“This also marks our efforts to fulfill one of the cardinal manifesto of our party, which is job and wealth creation, for our teaming youth,’’ Bindow said.

The governor recalled that the State Executive Council had already constituted the Youth Employment and Poverty Alleviation Committee.

He explained that with him as the chairman of the committee, all hands would be on deck to ensure that government actualized its vision on poverty alleviation.

He said that his committee would tour all the centres in the state to see things for itself, assuring the that his administration would not fail the youth.

While conducting the governor round the centre, Mr Ayuba Audu, State Coordinator, Adamawa Poverty Alleviation Programme, said little effort was required to revive the centres.

Audu said that the seven centres were located in Guyuk, Numan, Yola, Mubi, and Ganye, Mayo-Belwa and Girei.
