The Osun Police Command on Monday said it had arrested five robbery suspects and recovered a locally fabricated handgun with two live cartridges in Ilesha, Osun.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs Folashade Odoro, said in a statement that the arrests and recovery were made during patrol on March 4 at about 6 a.m., at Ereja Square, Ilesha.

Odoro said that other items recovered from the suspects include; 30 pairs of new jeans trousers, many shirts and shoes suspected to be stolen from a boutique.

She also said that electronic appliances and laptops were equally recovered from the suspects and that the items were allegedly stolen from different victims.

The police spokesperson said efforts were in progress to arrest other members of the gang still at large.

She said the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
