The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that the Benue State Government is poised to establish a Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) clinic to offer advice, support and consultancy services to people interested in doing business.

According to Mr Tersoo Pkelai, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, the clinic will also give guidelines on the establishment of business outfits in Benue.

“It will also assist other schemes on how to develop, manage and grow,” he said on Thursday in Makurdi, while briefing newsmen on the activities of his ministry.

He said that Benue would soon host another National Trade Fair to showcase its rich agricultural and investment potential, following the success of the 2015 edition held in Makurdi.

“The trade fair will be held be in conjunction with the Benue Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BECCIMA).

“We gained a lot when we hosted the nation’s business outfits in 2015 and will not mind hosting again,” he said.

He said that government was already building a GSM and ICT Village to enhance technology, and challenged youths to take advantage of the project to upgrade their knowledge of modern technology.

Kpelai said that the ministry had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Benue farmers, trade unions, promoters and relevant stakeholders, on a unified standard weight and measures.

“I am happy to inform you that market operators, relevant stakeholders and farmers have complied with the policy,” he said.
