Nigerian Customs Service has denied reports that it seized 12 vehicles belonging to a Senator in Kano.

Joseph Attah, Public Relations Officer of NCS who made the denial in a statement on Wednesday said the Customs is still trying to establish the identity of the owner of the vehicles retrieved at Magaji Rumfa, GRA Kano by its operatives.

While explaining the circumstances which led to the seizure of the vehicles, Attah said operatives of NCS Compliance Team, based on credible intelligence had trailed the movement of some smuggled vehicles from Maigatari, Jigawa State to a house at Magaji Rumfa, GRA Kano.

Consequently, he added that on the 7th February, 2017, eleven (11) vehicles made up of 10 Hilux vans and one Land cruiser jeep were retrieved from the house at Magaji Rumfa GRA, Kano and taken for detention at the HQ of Customs Area Command Kano.

He added that the officers discovered there were no occupants in the house, hence the gate was forced opened to retrieve the smuggled vehicles.

According to him, investigations into the smuggling of the vehicles is still on to establish the true owner.
