Breaking: Buhari suspends, orders probe of SGF, NIA DG over corrupt allegations

SGF Babachir Lawal: suspended

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal, in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity who announced this in a statement said Buhari has also directed the suspension of the SGF from office pending the outcome of the investigations.

In a related development, Adesina said the President has also ordered a full scale investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, over which the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has made a claim.

Oke: also suspended

The investigation, Adesina, said, is also to enquire into the circumstances in which the NIA came into possession of the funds, how and by whose or which authority the funds were made available to the NIA, and to establish whether or not there has been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds.

The President has also directed the suspension of the Director General of the NIA, Ambassador Ayo Oke, pending the outcome of the investigation.

A three-man Committee comprising the Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the National Security Adviser, headed by the Vice President, is to conduct both investigations.

The Committee is to submit its report to the President within 14 days.

The most senior Permanent Secretary in the SGF’s office, and the most senior officer in the NIA, are to act, respectively, during the period of investigation.

I commend the President Mohammadu Buhari on this noble and excellent process and procedure he displayed in handling the matters of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGN Mr. David Babachir Lawal on matters of award of contract for the Presidential initiative on N/East PINE. We salute you President for thorough display of maturity in handling this case as you did not allow the loud propaganda machinery of rogue party PDP politically criminal leadership to stampede you on this matter. You remained focused in following every step of the man in the eye of the storm and his accusers until this day of decision.

The wired case of the Present DG. of the National Intelligence Agency NIA Ambassador Ayo Oke is a rude shock to the world and a disgrace to standard school of intelligentsia which require speed and precision to handle so as to check not only source and starter of this dirty deal but its pollutant effect on NIA and virus infection of other sister agencies. Was it not open secret that the department NIA booms of young operative billionaires. The two departments mostly used by corrupt leaders of the land to source dirty moneys especially for election malpractices and other criminal activities against state they swore to defend is the National Security Adviser’s office and the National Intelligence Agency NIA.
Thank you for suspending the Heads of the affected Departments to allow for a fair investigation which will surely lead to other openings for the benefit of solving some hard nut secrets of the rogues who looted Nigeria for 16yrs of crime, corruption, massive stealing, and breed of violence in the land as diversion.

On the composition of this body of inquiry, it meets every good expectations. We would like to remind the Vice President and his partners to know that thorough and discrete handling of this Secret Operations’ investigations and that of the Federation’s Secretary, with immediate implementation of the good reports by the President will catapult this regime to greater heights while quelling the noisy spoilers attitude of the opposition for good.

If this probe is well handled and result applied, this case of NIA will be to Nigeria what the Pumpkin Garden was to U.S.A. nation building against internal and external enemies of U.S sustained by great corruption of America politics by the then Union of Socialist Soviet in the late 30’s 40’s 50’s and early1960.
