Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Kogi State Council has called on the Senate to quickly undertake the screening of the ministerial nominee from the State, Prof. Stephen Ocheni.

Chairman and Secretary of the state council, Adeiza Momohjimoh and Ademu Sheidu respectively made the call Myself neat in a statement in Lokoja.

According to the union, “The nominee has impressive wealth of experience that is needed at this critical moment of the nation to move forward.

“The Senate as a national asset in view of its landmark decisions that have kept the nation afloat need to expedite in the case of the pending clearance of the nominee to save Kogi State from its agony arising from the death of the last cabinet member from the state, Barrister James Ocholi.”

The union also described the nominee, Prof. Stephen Ocheni as a thorough bred academician and said his appointment, is an opportunity for the nation to tap from his wealth of experience.

The union urged the three Senators representing Kogi State to rally round the nominee to ensure his speedy confirmation.
