It was celebration galore at the Geeta Ashram temple premises in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, recently when the Overseas friends of Bhartiya Janta party (OFBJP) Nigeria Chapter, a voluntary and community organization of Non-Residence Indians living abroad and a support group of government of India’s policy and good governance Overseas in Lagos, headed by Mr. Sanjay Srivastava an entrepreneur , Convener and President- OFBJP Nigeria Chapter hosted all and sundry to a befitting reception heralding the “Hindu NavVarsh, (Hindu New Year).
Welcoming the guests who comprised India nationals, Nigerians and people from other countries, Sanjay Srivastava, highlighted the recent transformation in Projects and Policies of Indian Government to reach out to the citizenry through its various policies on health, hygiene, safety, industrial development, Save Girl Child, Peoples Participation in Projects, Demonetization, Make in India, Digitalization, Good Governance , Corruption free Government etc, which has been demonstrated by Modi government in last 3 years and impacted in very good sentiment and positive movement on economy.
“Mr. Narendra Modi the prime minister of India has emerged global leader and one of the most effective prime ministers since Independence. Glory of India, as a country and Indians across the globe have gained great respect, and moving towards being a sustainable and developing economy to show ways of Indigenous resource development and it is worthy to note that OFBJP, Nigeria has been celebrating “Hindu NavVarsh, (Hindu New Year) continually for last three years by the name of “Bhartiya Sanskriti Diwas Africa”.”
Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale In-charge, Foreign Affairs Dept. of Bhartiya Janta Party, India (The ruling party) addressed the audience online on trade and cultural relation between India and Nigeria. He highlighted the similarity and appealed all community and diplomatic mission to work together for making of better world and enrich the society.
“The purpose of gathering here is to felicitate with each other and reach out to those that cannot afford such” Vijay Chauthaiwale reasoned.
All Smajam i.e. head of different state wise group of India actively discussed on the theme “Patriotic personality from different states of India, regional heroes, who has contributed toward betterment of the society in the field of Independence War, Art, Science and Culture. While an Indo-Nigerian art fusion was performed by student group “Lightyear Entertainment” of the Department of Arts and Culture of the University of Lagos.
The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Pravin Kumar – General Secretary of OFBJP, Nigeria to Diplomatic Missions in Nigeria, all dignitaries of Indian Diaspora from States of India, all the executives and esteemed members for their voluntary support to the Indian community.
