Scores of residential buildings and shops were flooded in several parts of llorin, the Kwara capital after a three-hour heavy rain early Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that most of the houses flooded were built some metres away from the Asa River at different parts of the state capital.

Flooded cars were stuck as some of the major roads in the llorin metropolis were washed away by the flood, thereby making driving on them rather difficult.

Some of the areas affected by the flood were Aduralere, Amilegbe and Mubo Streets where several houses and property were damaged.

Others were ldigba area, Emir road and lsale Koko.

A member of the Kwara House of Assembly representing Ilorin East Constituency, Mrs Aishat Ibrahim, who visited the affected areas lamented the huge damage.

The special Adviser on Emergency and Relief to Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed, Alhaji Duro Mohammed was not available for reaction on the incident.
