The Vice Chancellor, University of University, UI, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka on Monday ordered all the undergraduate students of the institution to vacate the school’s premises before 6 pm.

“All the undergraduate students should leave halls of residence on or before 6pm today,” the Vice Chancellor said in a terse statement.
He also shifted the first-semester exam slated to start on Tuesday to Monday, July 17, 2017.
He, however, stated that the order does not affect postgraduate students, saying that their lectures and other academic activities will continue.
It would be recalled that the University authority had appealed to the students to shelve their plan demonstration in the interest of peace.
But the students still went ahead with the protest which this morning, thus, necessitating a heavy presence of military and police personnel at entrances to the University entrance to forestall breakdown of law and order.
Also, an armoured tank was stationed nearby the tertiary institution to avert the escalation of the students’ protest into violence.
