Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accused unnamed prominent indigenes from Rivers who don’t have personal houses in the state of teeming up with outsiders to fight the state.

Speaking during a State Banquet to mark the Second Anniversary of his administration at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Governor  said only those who have houses in the state would rise in its defence.

He said: “Anybody who loves Rivers State, it doesn’t matter the political party you belong to, you owe it a duty to protect the state.”

“It is very key to us as we have no other state than Rivers. A child who does not have a house at home, you know that child does not mean well for his parents, his community, Local Government Area and State.

“Those who don’t own houses in Rivers are those who want Rivers State to be destroyed. All of us who have one home or the other, owe it a duty to protect the state. ”

He stated that he will always stand in defence of the state because he has stakes in the state as one of its prominent residents.

The governor said: “All elders here, you can sleep with your two eyes closed. I will not disappoint.”

The Governor said that his administration will build on the superlative achievements recorded in the course of the first two years.

The State Banquet witnessed comedy and music by Okon Lagos, Francis Duru, Segun Arinze and MC Shakara. Prominent Rivers leaders attended the State Banquet .
Although the Governor did not mention names of prominent Rivers indigenes who don’t have houses in the State,it is a known fact that former Governor Chibuike Amaechi does not have house in his community in Ubima in Ikwerre local government area.
