Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has said the purpose of his administration’s focus on constructing rural roads was to open agricultural opportunities, as investors were already waiting to come in.
Obaseki who stated this while inspecting the ongoing construction of the 29 kilometers Agbede-Awain-Idegun road, said many investors were already waiting to access fertile lands across the state for agricultural purposes.
He said he was at the project site to see progress work as well as ensure that the contractor finishes the work within the targeted time.
According to him, “We flagged off this road project two months ago and from what I am seeing, the contractor is doing well. It is not enough to say we want to flag off roads, we want to follow progress, we want to follow the time table the contractor has given us.
“Besides building infrastructure for the people, you can see that this opens up a lot of agriculture oppoturnites and we are anxious this is completed on time
“We have a lot of investors already in line that want to come and take advantage of our fertile land. The contractor gave us 18 months and from the look of things, we are within time.”
