A 21-year-old stylist, Victoria Simon, who allegedly stole her customer’s N130,000, on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Simon, a resident of White House Street, Ikorodu in Lagos State, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The accused, according to the prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, committed the offence between Nov. 22 and Nov. 25, 2016 at Allen Avenue, Ikeja.

Perezi alleged that the accused stole two ATM cards belonging to the complainant, Gladys Ogbugo (her customer) and used them to withdraw N130, 000 from her account.

“The accused used the UBA ATM card on Nov. 22, 2016 to withdraw N30,000 and on Nov. 25, 2016, she used the GTBank ATM card to withdraw N100,000 from Gladys’ account.”

He said the footage of the CCTV camera installed at the ATM machines gave out the identity of the accused.

The offence contravened Sections 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates a three-year imprisonment on conviction.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka, granted her bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Layinka said the sureties should be gainfully employed and should also show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned until June 23 for mention.
