Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state

Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun has appointed a former Secretary-General of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Taiwo Ogunjobi, as his Special Assistant on Football Matters.

Tunde Shamsudeen, Special Assistant on Media to Ogunjobi, told newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday that Ogunjobi was given his appointment letter on Saturday.

“He is to assume duties with immediate effect,’’ he said.

Shamsudeen added that Ogunjobi, who is the current Chairman of Osun Football Association, was given his letter of appointment by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Moshood Adeoti.

He quoted Adeoti as saying, while handing over the letter, the governor’s appointment was based on merit and the conviction that Ogunjobi’s wealth of experience and contributions were invaluable.

“They will add value to the efforts of this administration towards impacting lives through football,’’ Adeoti had said.

Shamsudeen said Ogunjobi’s letter also read in part: `While congratulating you on this well-deserved appointment, the State Government counts much on you that this elevation will enhance your performance with a view of moving the State of Osun to greater heights.”

He said Ogunjobi had also, in his response, thanked the governor for the appointment and promised to work towards actualising the vision of the Governor through football.

“I’m honoured and privileged to serve my state, and I pledge to work towards the actualisation of the vision of the Governor to take the State of Osun to the next level through football,” Ogunjobi had said.
