An Ikole-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday sentenced one Ibrahim Mohammed,30, to two years imprisonment  for stealing a  cow and a bag of  garri, a local staple.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adebayo Oladija,  who said that the accused was convicted on a  one-count charge of stealing , sentenced him  to  two years imprisonment with hard labour and without an option of fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Gbenga Adebayo, told the court that the convict and two others now at large committed the offence on June 16 at Fulani Camp, Ootunja-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area.

According to the prosecutor, the convict and the two other persons  conspired to steal the items valued at  N150,000,  property of one Salifu Suleiman.

Adebayo told the court that the offence committed by the convict contravened sections  516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code,  Cap 16,  Vol  1, Laws of  Ekiti State,  2010.

The convict, who had no counsel, had pleaded guilty to the charge.
