Victims Support Fund disburses N40m to farmers in Taraba

The Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Thursday in Jalingo distributed N40million cash to about 2000 small-holder farmers displaced by the insurgency in the North-East region.

Speaking at the occasion the Executive Secretary of the fund Prof. Sunday Ochoche said that the the exercise was intended to make the IDPs, located in about three places, to be self reliant in their new places of abode.
He said the Fund would continue to support the IDPs from time to time with a view to making them independent.
In his remarks at the event, the Secretary to the Taraba Government Mr Anthony Jellason expressed appreciation to the fund for its continued help to those displaced by the insurgency and other communal clashes in the state.
He, however called on the VSF to increase its assistance to Taraba because of the recent crisis in Takum, Ussa and Gembu.
He assured that the Darius Ishaku administration would continue to partner with the Federal government in tackling the security challlenges facing the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports there are three IDP Camps in the state located at Mutum Biyu, Kona (near Jalingo) and Bali.
