The Kebbi Security Committee says it recovered 68 Rifles, 25 Pistols and two AK 47 guns from suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustlers.

The leader of the committee and special assistant to the governor on security matters, Maj.-Gen. Isa Dan-Hanne (Rtd), disclosed this when he presented the recovered weapons to the governor.

Dan-Hanne, who displayed the weapons  told Gov. Atiku Bagudu in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday that the weapons were covered from the suspects after a tip-off.

Dan-Hane,who, did not disclose the number of the arrested suspects, said they were arrested at Koko, Bagudo, Yauri and Zuru local government areas.

He said the suspects had terrorised motorists and passengers on the Jega, Koko/Besse and the Koko-Besse to Yauri highway for a long time.

He said they were apprehended by security agents attached to the committee based on intelligence reports.

Dan-Hanne said their capture was a relief to motorists, traders and livestock breeders in the state.

According to him, some of the suspects had confessed to the crimes and also gave useful information to security agents that led to the arrest of other criminals.

In his remarks, Gov. Bagudu commended members of the committee and pledged sustained support in the provision of logistics for their operations. (NAN)
