Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court Ibadan, on Thursday sentenced Aderemi Ojo, to four years in prison for unlawful dealing in Indian Hemp.

Ayo-Emmanuel said he convicted Ojo based on the evidence before him as well as plea of guilt made by the convict.

“In order to curb the increasing rate of drug trafficking in the society, Ojo is hereby, sentenced to four years in prison and the sentence starts from the date of his arrest,” the Judge said.

Earlier, Mr Raphael Himinkaiye, counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Oyo State Command, said that the convict was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on unlawful dealing in Indian Hemp.

Himinkaiye also Ojo committed the crime on Nov. 1 2016, at Asejire Village-Egbeda area of Oyo State.

He further said the offence contravened Section 11 (C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
