Oyo State workers are to receive outstanding salaries for April and May from the recently-released Paris Club refunds and the June monthly allocation.

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the Oyo state government received N7.9billion from the Paris Club refunds released by the Federal Government.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, disclosed this in Ibadan on Thursday, following the approval of Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.
Arulogun said that about 72 per cent of the N7.9 billion Paris Club fund was committed to the salaries and salary-related payments.
“President Muhammadu Buhari directed that at least 50 per cent of the Paris Club refunds should be committed to the payment of salaries of workers in the states.
“Gov. Ajimobi, who has always displayed his humanitarian and welfarist disposition and commitment to workers’ welfare, has committed above the stipulated 50 per cent to salaries and other allowances.
“It would be recalled that the governor committed 100 per cent of the N5.003 billion second inflow of the first tranche of the Paris Club funds to workers salaries, pensions and gratuities,’’ he said.
The commissioner said that the government was optimistic that it would soon be free from owing workers salaries.
“Our government is committed to the well-being and welfare of the people of the state.
“We have said it many times that the present government is not happy with the situation of workers in the state and has vowed not to relent in its efforts at correcting the anomaly.
“The Governor is consistent in reiterating his commitment to permanently resolving the issue of outstanding workers salaries,’’ he added.
