Man, 43, docked for stealing

A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos ‎on Thursday granted N250,000 bail to Kola Dauda, 43, who allegedly vandalised an Iveco truck marked DKA 871 XA and stole parts valued at N350,000.

Dauda, 43, a driver, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the two-count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Aro Lambo, granted the accused bail with one surety in like sum.

He said that the surety must be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Lambo said that the address of the surety should be verified.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the court that the accused and others now at large committed the offences on Jimoh Oguntola Street, Surulere, Lagos, on Aug. 7, at 8.00.a.m.

She said that the accused and his accomplices stole the truck’s brain box valued N250,000, ignition valued N70,000 and battery cable valued N30,000.

“The property belonged to Al-Bonaz, Nigeria LTD,” Osayande said.

She said that the offences contravened sections 287 (5b) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court adjourned the case until Oct. 5 for hearing.
