Fayose to declare presidency as S/West PDP disowns Kashamu

As the South West leaders and the stakeholders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday publicly dissociated themselves from Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East senatorial district, the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has declared his intention to run for the office of the nation’s presidency in 2019.

These were among the major issues that played out at the party’s meeting held at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi-Ape to discuss important issues affecting the progress of the party.

The party zonal leadership announced its dissociation from Senator Kashamu who is the party’s formal National Mobilisation Committee Chairman and directed the leadership of the party in Ogun state to stop dealings with him on matters relating to the party.

Among those in attendance at the meeting were the party leaders from all the states in the region including: a former Deputy National Chairman, South, Chief Bode George, a former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former deputy governor of Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Dr. Saka Balogun, Senator Olufemi Lanleyin, Elder Wole Oyelese, a former SW leader, Tajudeen Oladipo, former Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, Senator Hosea Agboola, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Barr. Lowo Obisesan, Babatunde Oduyoye, Lekan Opadokun, and Engineer Femi Babalola.

Speaking, the region zonal Chairman, Dr. Eddy Olafeso expressed happiness over judgement of the Supreme Court that recognised Markafi led faction and saying that the judgement was in the best interest of the nation.

Affirming his readiness to contest next presidential election, Fayose who noted that sooner than expected, PDP would come back to power in the country said that Nigerians were already tired of the APC led government.

Pointing out that Senator Buruji should be blame for the various challenges the party had faced in the South West, Fayose said, “All people that are destabilising the peace in PDP, we must sanction them. Nobody is greater that this party. If you call yourself a leader and you are waging was against it, definitely you are an enemy of the party. So, our meeting resolved that we don’t want him again in our party. We are not ready to have anything to do with him again. We have directed all the states to steer clear from him”.

Speaking on his ambition to become a president, he said, “It is my right to be President of Nigeria as a citizen of this country. I am educated and I have experience in politics. I am vast in public administration. The people want me. I will vie for the presidency under whatever circumstance. I will contest and I will prioritise the interest of the people. Infact, I will declare my ambition for the office of the President on October 1. We voted for APC and Buhari to give us good governance. They failed to give us good governance. So we will drive them out of power. The people want a person that will give them good governance. The people want comfort. Nigerians are hungry and are suffering and they don’t want to suffer again. We have to send them packing come 2019”.
