Women Afrobasket: Nigeria humbles Guinea 106-33

D’Tigress: Humble Guinea

Nigeria’s Senior Women Basketball Team, D’Tigress, has taken the campaign for 2018 World FIBA Championship to another level by beating Guinea 106-33 in the ongoing 2017 Women Afrobasket in Bamako, Mali.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Africa’s women representative in the 2018 FIBA Championship would emerge from 2017 Women Afrobasket.

Evelyn Akhator of D’Tigress topped the lead in Nigeria’s assault against Guinea by scoring 24 points out of 106 to humble their opponents during the penultimate Group B match on Tuesday.

D’Tigress left no one in doubt of their prominence in the tournament right from the first quarter of the game which Guineans got eight points against Nigeria’s 26 points.

The second quarter was not better for Guinea who added four points against Nigeria’s 22 points and at the end of third quarter, Guinea added eight points while Nigeria added 34 points.

Akhator, who was Nigeria’s highest pointer in the match against Egypt, repeated the feat against Guinea by making seven rebounds; three assists; four steals one block.

Akhator, Nigeria’s forward player, is currently playing for Dallas Wings in the famous Women National Basketball Association (WNBA) U.S.

NAN also reports that Ndidi Madu  made five assists and four steals to help D’ Tigress to record huge victory on Tuesday.

Aicha Mara, Guinea’s highest pointer in the match, got 11 points out of the total 33 for her team.

Nigeria, having qualified for quarter final, still has the Defending Champion Senegal to contain on Wednesday in the last Group B match which makes it a match to watch. (NAN)
