Dealers at the Nigerian Stock Exchange

Equity transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed for the week on Monday on a negative trend, with the market indicators depreciating marginally by 0.37 per cent.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation shed N45 billion or 0.37 per cent to close at N12.188 trillion against N12.233 trillion posted on Friday.

Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at 35,488.81, lost 130.08 points or 0.38 per cent to close at 34,358.73.

An analysis of price movement indicated that Nestle led the losers’ table with a loss N5 to close at N1225 per share.

Nigerian Breweries trailed with N3.01 to close at N168 and Lafarge Wapco dipped N1.48 to close at N50, while UBA declined by 27k to close at N8.7 per share.

GTBank also lost 1k to close at N39.5 per share.

Conversely, Total Oil led the gainers’ table during the day, gaining N6 to close at N231 per share.

Glaxosmith came second with a gain of 6k to close at N22 and AirService appreciated by 34k to close at N7.16 per share.

Custodians increased by 17k to close at N3.63, while Eterna added 16k to close at N3.46 per share.

Similarly, the volume of shares decreased by 44.25 per cent with an exchange of 107.148 million shares worth N1.37 billion transacted by investors in 2,484 deals.

This was in contrast with 192.204 million shares worth N3.67 billion exchanged in 2,814 deals on Friday.

NAN reports that Mayer was the most active, exchanging 20.01 million shares valued at N14.00 million.

FCMB followed with an account of 9.58 million shares worth N9.92 million, while Nigerins traded 8.39 million shares valued at N4.19 million.

FBNH sold 8.09 million shares worth N45.31 million and Transcorp traded 5.46 million shares valued at N6.84 million.
