President Buhari shakes Rev. Ayokunle, CAN’s President as he welcomes the delegations to Aso Rock

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says it asked President Muhammadu Buhari to pull out Nigeria from all religious organisations at a meeting in Aso Rock on Friday.

CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle who led a delegation of the association to the Presidential Villa for a meeting with the President told journalists that they also asked the Federal Government to tackle herdsmen attacks in the country.

In addition, he added that CAN asked the government to do more to secure lives and properties of the citizenry by recruiting more policemen and ensuring prompt payment of workers’ salaries.

He CAN members were humbled by the President’s frankness and would expect him to act now to preserve the sanctity of the country.

The meeting, held behind closed door, was also attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, National Security Adviser (NSA) Retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno and Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, cabinet ministers, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, was represented by Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office (EFO) Hajiya Habiba Lawal.

The President would also meet with representatives of the Muslim community in Nigeria at same venue by 2 p.m.
