In a bid to promote the Yoruba Cultural heritage, Igbagede Ewa-Ede Foundation in Collaboration with Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has called on all to join in promoting Yoruba language. That was during the its 2017 Ewa-Ede programme tagged”Yoruba Cultural Heritage- priceless Gift to Humanity”at Cultural center, Abeokuta,the capital of Ogun State.

Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Muyiwa Oladipo said the state Government is in total support of any group or individual programme aiming at promoting Yoruba cultural heritage, especially the state culture.

The Commissioner, made this known on Thursday at a press conference held in his office at Oke Mosan Abeokuta.

He said, it is a pity that the Corporate bodies are not supporting any programme aiming at propagating our culture, adding that if the organizations pump their funds into anything that improves our culture, supports the cultural heritage in Nigeria as a whole, it would have been a good idea.

He added that, Ewa Ede is a cultural programme which is aimed at promoting Yoruba culture especially in the state.

Oladipo, however urged all stakeholders to propagate the cultural heritage to fund culture programmes with good intention saying our culture will meet International Standard when practiced with good intention.

The Commissioner said Chief Dele Momodu Will be guest speaker at fifth edition of Ewa Ede. He said,

“Yoruba culture is dwindling especially with the youth, they embrace the western culture at the expense of our own highly riched culture, that is the major reason why Igbagede ewa-ede Foundation in collaboration with Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ministry of Education,Science and Technology,planned to orientate people on culture”.he added

The founder, Princess Adejoke Shomoye said: “The programme contains lots of benefits,and I know by the time people venture into this programme they will gain from it. He added that Ewa Ede is aimed in promoting the Yoruba culture adding that, the programme has been on existence for four years ago.

“Youths have been short changed in promoting the cultural heritage, our children no longer learn yoruba language in school.

Yoruba language had been pushed back with the back of the hands to the extent that our children prefers to speak the foreign language than our language.”

“Yoruba culture belongs to us, if we fail to embrace our culture, no how our culture will go into extinction”she said

“That is why we have to collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ministry of Education,Science and technology to make sure our culture is back to life,to make sure that yorubs language is being taught in schools” She added.

“We want to bring back the days of our fathers and mothers in terms of our culture,their food,modes of dressing,their indigenous language and so on”

The founder however, expressed gratitude to the State government describing the present administration as a fortune for her career.
