Ali walks briskly to the delight of all well wishers on arrival at Nnamdi Azikwe Airport on Monday

Two months ago, Ahmadu Ali, a toddler from Chibok, Borno State who was caught up in one of the numerous Boko Haram attacks on the town  about three years ago, left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on a wheel chair.

Ali was then on his way to United Arab .Emirates, UAE, courtesy, the Taleveras Foundation.

The trip was a life saving one for the toddler who suffered excruciating pains all over his body, brought upon him by the senseless Boko Haram marauders. In the particular attack he was caught up in, the insurgents crushed everything/everyone in their path, including severely damaging the still forming vertebral column of Ali as a bicycle was ridden over him they unleashed their violence on the village.

For about three years, the  little boy never accessed any form of orthodox medication as he was at the mercy of traditionalist, in highly unpredictable and perilous times.

He subsequetly became immobile and was fast detoriating, physically and mentally, from that period till the 1st quarter of this year,2017, when GIPLC (Global Initiative for peace, love and care) made contact with him.

GIPLC,  a non-governmental, non-faith-based, not-for-profit, charity organisation, founded in 2006 to cater for orphans and vulnerable children in Nigeria led by Nuhu Kwajafah later  contacted the Taleveras Foundation for sponsorship of a  corrective surgery that will enable Ali walk again.

The Chairman of the Foundation, Igho Sanomi, along with other Trustee members wasted no time in heeding the call for help.

Sanomi noted that as a father, it is very touching to see a young boy like Ali suffer: “It is sad what some of our kids have to go through because of the insurgency in Borno. This is an opportunity for us to show our love to those who need it.”

He noted that though education remained the key focus of the Foundation, “kids have to be healthy before they can attend school.”

He promised on behalf of the board of trustees of the Foundation to take care of Ali, including paying the hospital bill for the surgery. “We will visit him in the hospital after the surgery,” he added.

The organisation facilitated the relevant examinations & digital/lab tests, for assessment and proper medical attention and the corrective surgery in UAE.

Nuhu Kwajafah  said at the arrival;  “After duly assessing the various options open to us, from all over the world, we resolved to take him to the UAE.

After almost 6 hours of extremely delicate surgery, about a week in ICU and a month in recovery, Ali took his first steps into a brighter future.

“Ali who left this airport on a wheel chair couple of months ago, is back before you today on his two feet, looking handsome and ready to start his new life;… a very excited Kwajafah, noted at Nnamdi Azikwe Airport on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Taleveras Foundation promised to provide him an Educational scholarship as he settles in Abuja.

Ali will be attending the GIPLC End of year party for orphans and vulnerable children for over 3,000 children, the 5th Year and Ali Ahmadu will be Guest of Honour.
