Despite the calls for the scrapping of the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS) by Nigerians, the Police Community Relations Committee in Ogun state has donated an administrative block and security tower for the operatives in the state.

Speaking at the Foundation Laying Ceremony of the block donated by the PCRC in Warewa, the State Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu said that the construction of the block and tower would aid the security operations of the SARS in the area.

Iliyasu said that the projects located at the Warewa Division of the Police, became imperative to check criminal activities on the Long Bridge along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and the creeks. He said.

” We are looking at the critical nature of this area, the strategic location of this area as far as violent crime is concerned because of the nature of this place, its proximity to Lagos its proximity to the creek and the Lagos-Ibadan Express way as well as the very very security area that we call Long Bridge.”

“We have decided to commit ourselves into carrying out this program to erect a tower that is meant critically to check the menace of any intending or migrating criminals along this axis. That is our vision to push the activities of any intending criminals that come through this way because of the critical nature of the area.” he added.

Speaking,the State Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan kicked against the on going End SARS campaign by some Nigerians, saying that the operatives in the state were working effectively on the security of lives and properties.

The Chairman of the PCRC in Warewa, Dr.Nkem Akowe said that her members decided to embark on the projects in order to make the security work of the SARS easier in the state.

Adding that “We have decided to build this administrative block to give them little comfort not sleeping or resting in the morning in broken down cars around the station after working on the Long Bridge through out the night”.
