Feyisetan and Ayo Fayose

“Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm ” is a common refrain in Christian circles. It is an ethereal law telling all subjects to obey their leader, especially those anointed by the Almighty himself, implicitly. Although it applies to religious leaders in Nigeria’s usage, this has been carried to the level of politics with a precedent in the Bible that King Saul, the son of Kish, was anointed by Prophet Samuel and thus, he was sacred (though he misbehaved later and had to be replaced by David the son of Jesse!).

This new political coinage crept up in Ado Ekiti during the New Year thanksgiving service,
ably attended by Deputy Governor, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, his wife, Janet; the Chief of Staff, Dipo Anisulowo, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Modupe Alade, Head of Service, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka, notable traditional rulers, political office holders, market women and top government officials.

At the service, as The Punch puts it, wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, warned the antagonists of the continuity agenda of her husband’s administration in the state not to obstruct the work of God as consequences of that would be too much for them to bear. In other words, that is just as Jesus spoke from the clouds to Paul of Tarsus (when he was on a trip to Damascus) to stop persecuting Christians, adding: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the spikes.”

According to a statement issued by her Special Assistant (Media), Gbenga Ariyibi, Mrs. Fayose said God “had revealed to her long time ago that her husband was going for a position of authority higher than the governorship he was holding.”

Although, according to the report, she said God did not reveal to her the time and the position God had planned for her husband, she noted that the word of God “was too sacrosanct and would manifest at all costs.”

Mrs. Fayose said, “I want to plead with everyone, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government, don’t even try it. God is looking at you, and God is watching. Don’t hunt for the failure of continuity, why? because our God is a God of continuity, our leader is carrying the unusual grace, if you don’t want to be disgraced, don’t hunt for the downfall of this government, don’t hunt for the failure of continuity, I have said my own.

“It is not him, it’s God through him. Look beyond him, and let us continue to work together in unity.

“God told me expressly years back that he needed Ayo Fayose in Nigeria. What brought about this is ,I was praying that the trouble of this man was too much, that I want God to take politics away from his heart, to separate him from politics, that I have had too much, but God said leave him to me, he is in the hollow of my palm, l need him in Nigeria, it is not only Ekiti, that he is just passing through Ekiti State.”

With emphatic knocks on the lectern, Mrs. Fayose, who prayed for the peace, progress and continuity agenda of the present administration in the state, said “no amount of gang up or political manipulation would alter or shake her husband from the good plan God had in stock for him and the people of the state.”
