The Federal Medical Center (FMC)in Abeokuta had performed one hundred (100) free eye surgery to mark Senator Ibikunle Amosun the Governor of Ogun state birthday at sixty.
The Medical director of the Center Prof Adewale Musa Olomu made these known on Friday at the celebration of the success of the surgery at FMC that the hospital initial initiative was to do sixty surgery to appreciate the Governor for his generousity to the center since he (Musa) assume the office of Director of the center but decided to add additional forty because of the turn out of people and they can’t help it to tell others to go back home.
His words”Our initial plan was to do surgery for sixty people but with the calm and orderliness of the people we felt so reluctant to tell others to go home,so we added additional forty to the surgery free of charge”
Also the free eye surgery was to appreciate what the Governor has done to the hospital since we (management) assumed office.
We all asked for one thing when we visited the Governor but instead gave us three things” he added
One of the benefiaries Olamilekan Adelekan 12 years old appreciate the management of the center and made it known to our correspondent that he was almost going blind before he heard about the initiative and decided to attend the screening and was favoured with other children.
Olalekan also made it known that he had been parading the hospital for years because he could not read nor write in class it got to a point he stop going to sch.
Dr Goke Awodehinde the director of Eye Clinic said there was no complication during and after the surgery and that the people were so calm and orderly.
Dr Awodehinde therefore advices the beneficiaries to becareful of what they expose their eyes to and if they have to clean their eye with anything it should be cotton wool and water.
