L-R: Mr Okechukwu Nwuzor, National Coordinator ALDI; presents a plague to Former VP Atiku Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar, chairman of the Board of Trustees of ALDI

A group, known as Atiku Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI) has said that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has the needed experience to address the vast challenges facing the country.

Mr Okechukwu Nwuzor, the group’s National Coordinator, said this when members of the group paid a solidarity visit on Abubakar on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the visit was to request the former Vice President to contest the presidency in the 2019, adding that he is one politician who does not discriminate.

He maintained that Abubakar  had the interest of young Nigerians at heart and has the experience and connection to enthrone good governance in the country.

“We in ALDI, believe strongly in his leadership qualities and experiences which cuts across politics and business.

“You are a detribalised Nigerian whose achievements cut across each geo-political zones and ethnic group of the country,’’ he said.

It would be recalled that the former Vice President who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in November 2017, said the future belonged to young people.

He maintained that his desire was to facilitate a bright future for the young and old and to ensure the development of the country while fostering peace and unity among the people.

The former Vice President had officially declared his intention to run for president in 2019 on the Platform of the PDP.

He announced his candidacy in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Tuesday.

The former Vice President said his decision to make the announcement in Rivers State was because he believes Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike represents what he represented in 1998/99 as the live wire of the PDP.

Abubakar was in Rivers with the former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel; Senator Abdul Ningi and some other PDP leaders.
