Different political and cultural groups in Oshodi/Isolo area of Lagos, united under the umbrella of Itesiwaju Eko Vanguard, had a solidarity parley to endorse the governor of Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode, for another term at Alausa.

The ceremony which was hosted by Eze Ndigbo of Oshodi, Eze Reuben Ibe Akanma, in his palace at Oshodi, provided a veritable platform for some of the leaders of the over 100 groups and highlighted the achievements of the governor in the past three years.

In his remarks at the event, the Coordinator-General of the association, Seyi Bamigbade, disclosed that the affiliate groups, including Igbo Vision, Ndieze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Igbo community, Adorable Ladies and others, underscored the fact that Gov. Ambode has served Lagosians excellently, hence their decision to endorse him for another term

He also described Gov. Ambode as a detribalised Nigerian whose patriotic policies have united Nigerians regardless of state of origins. He charged the newly inaugurated members to be focused and be willing to go the extra miles in order to support the governor’s bid for second term.

Coordinator of the association in Oshodi/Isolo and organiser of the event, Chief (Mrs) Stella Akaigwe, said the group endorsed Gov. Ambode for a second tenure, because of his hard work and love for all Lagosians irrespective of their tribes or religions, noting that the governor has proved himself to be father of all in the state.

She said as highly focused leader who is committed to the growth of the society, Gov Ambode has not defaulted in his promises to the electorate, assuring that if the strides of the past three years were anything to go by, the governor would do even more if re-elected for second term in 2019.

Mrs. Akaigwe, who is a well known women leader and grassroots mobiliser, further remarked: “How can we forget that it was to the credit of our hard-working governor that the first ever state-owned DNA forensic centre in the whole of West Africa, was built in Lagos? Similarly, it will be unfair to Gov. Ambode not to put on record here that the-first-of-its-kind Safety Arena Complex was established very close to us here in Oshodi by him, to enhance emergency management in the state.

“You will all agree with me that if these array of first-term achievements, which are evenly distributed in all parts of our dear Lagos, are to be rated, His Excellency would be scoring A+ or Distinction in all ‘subjects’!”

Similarly, the Eze Ndigbo Oshodi/Isolo, Eze Reuben Ibe Akama described Gov. Ambode as friend of Ndi Igbo, assuring that he would mobilise his people in Lagos to ensure the governor wins in 2019.

According to the royal father, Ambode has done well in the area of infrastructural development, security, and food production. He mentioned the Lake rice project which is a collaboration between Lagos State and Kebbi State governments as a worthwhile venture that is already yielding dividends.

On how the reelection bid can succeed, Mrs. Akaigwe called on members of the association and other Lagosians to get their PVC. She said with the voter cards, it would be possible for them to attain their goal of returning the governor for second term.

In a bid to further strengthen the association, affiliate groups like United Igbo, Koro Group, Igbo Vision of Nigeria, Virtuous Women for Development, Igbo Traders in APC, Arena Market Traders, Home Based Oriented Movement of Oshodi, and Njiko Anioma Women Association, Adorable Women Foundation, Coalition of South-East Youth Group, Igbo Christian Women Association, and members of Restore Peace Initiative led by High Chief Amaechi, were inaugurated.
