Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has sacked the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Lawal Daura in what is believed to be a fallout of the the siege on the National Assembly Tuesday by security operatives led by operatives of the service.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, first disclosed Daura’s sacking on his Twitter handle, @akandeoj.

He wrote, “AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawal Musa Daura.”

Daura, who was summoned to the presidential villa by the acting president few minutes before his sack, was directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the DSS until further notice.

In another statement, Akande said: “The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, with immediate effect.

“Mr Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.’’
