A support group for the reelection of governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Abdullateef Abdulhakeem, has called on other political parties in the state, to join hands with All Progressive Congress (APC), in returning Governor Ambode to office for the second term.
Dr. Abdulhakeem, who is a Commissioner for Home Affairs in the state, made the call during a rally tagged ‘Return Ambode Unopposed’, held at Ejigbo Mini Stadium, in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos, on Sunday.
Speaking to the mammoth crowd at the rally, Dr. Abdulhakeem, popularly called ‘YEPE’, by his admirers, said, “what we are here to do today is tell all political parties in the state that we love you, and we called on them to join us (APC), and work on one person that we need to return, the performing governor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
“This will make other governors to WOR for the electorates that voted for them”.
Dr. Abdulhakeem also called on all the party faithfuls, to remain loyal to the party’s leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who he said is being endowed by God to give Lagos State performing governors.
“I urges us to remain faithful and loyal, our leader is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the one God have given the power to give us the leaders that will perform in Lagos State. For 20 years he discovered Raji Fashola, who is now a Minister in Nigeria. He also discovered our performing governor.
“Governor Ambode, started from where Fashola stops. He paid all pension arrears, he pays salaries as at when due, and he is transforming the state with many infrastructural development, such as redevelopment and redesigning of Oshodi, and many others.
“That is why we are campaigning for his return for the second term.”
The Home Affairs Commissioner also used the event to called on the electorates, especially, those that are yet to get their Permanent Voters’ Card, to quickly get it as so that they can vote in the next election.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Muniru Akeem, a former House of Representative member, representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 2, who is also contesting for the seat, said with the numbers of the people that gathered at the rally, confirmed that the reelection of Governor Ambode is not negotiable.
He urged the party’s members to give their votes to Governor Ambode both at the party’s primary and general election.
“Seeing you here today is confirmed that Governor Ambode is coming back for second term. Whenever there is primary election and general election, the governor should be rest assured of our votes.
“We all know what Governor Ambode has done for us in this local government. From schools to roads, health centres, and others too numerous to mention.
“What we can compensate him with is our votes. Am also using this to seek your supports for the seat at the House of Representatives. I implore you to give both Governor Ambode and myself during the elections”.
Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Mosuru Oleyede Bello, popularly called Obe, charged members of the party to take the message at the event to all zones of the party in the LCDA. He also charged the party members to ensure that PVCs, this he said will be used to get their stolen mandate back in the LCDA.
Bello also stated that with the numbers of people at the rally ‘Governor Ambode is a winner’.
Oladipo Ajomale, the son of the former State Chairman of APC, Otunba Henry Ajomale, described the event as an appreciation for what Governor Ambode has done for the State, and Ejigbo-Isolo LGA in general.
Ajomale who is also eyeing the constituency’s seat at Lagos State House of Assembly, called on the residents of the area to give their votes to APC in the next year’s general election.
