Anglican Church set for consecration of new Bishop for N/Delta North Diocese

New Bishop of Niger Delta North, Rt. Rev’d Wisdom Budu Ihunwo and wife, Mercy

History will be made on Friday as over 160 Bishops of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, led by the Primate, Most Reverend Nicolas Okoh, will converge on the Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State for the enthronment of the new Bishop, Rt. Rev’d Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, for the Niger Delta North Diocese.

Preparations have been on top gear for the enthronement of Rt. Rev. Ihunwo, as new Bishop of the Diocese of the Niger Delta North at the St Paul’s Cathedral of the Anglican Church, Diobu, Port-Harcourt venue of the enthronement.

The enthronement of the new Bishop is sequel to retirement of the Rt. Rev. Ignatius Crosby Ogborun Kattey, Archbishop of Niger Delta Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta who is also the Bishop of Niger Delta North Diocese, who will attain the mandatory retirement age of 70 years on Thursday, August 23.

Special Invitation made available to our correspondent in Port Harcourt indicated that the new Bishop will be enthroned by House of Bishops led by the Primate with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as the Special Guest of Honour.

The Primate assisted by Archbishops and Bishops of the Church had earlier consecrated four new bishops for four different Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria, on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The consecrated Bishops were: The Rt Rev’d Godwin Anyigor Awoke as the Bishop of Ngbo Diocese, The Rt Rev’d Wisdom Budu Ihunwo as the Bishop of Niger Delta North Diocese who will remain the Successor Bishop until the incumbent Bishop of Niger Delta North, the Most Rev’d Kattey retires on Thursday August 23.

Others are Rt Rev’d Dr. Solomon Olusola Akanbi who was consecrated as the Bishop of Offa Diocese.

He took over from the Rt Rev’d Akintunde Popoola who has been transferred to Ibadan South Diocese and the Rt Rev’d Prosper Afam Amah consecrated as the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese.

He took over from the Rt Rev’d Samuel Ezeofor who was transferred and enthroned as the Bishop of Aguata Diocese.

Rt. Rev’d Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, was born on December 27, 1976 in Rumuola Community to the family of Sir/Lady Raphael Ibejirika Ihunwo.

He has B.Ed in Religious studies from University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN and is concluding his Masters degree programme in the University of Port Harcourt.

He is currently the Chairman of the Foreign Missions and Evangelism Commission of the Niger Delta North Diocese and Vicar of the Saint Paul’s Cathedral Of the Anglican Church Port-Harcourt , Diocese and married to Mrs Mercy Ihunwo,who a trained educationist and Gospel Singer.
