An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday ordered the remand of 27-year -old Muyiwa Ogunwusi, in Agodi Prison, docked for allegedly raping a 24-year-old mentally unbalanced woman.

The plea of the accused was not taken, while Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Omotosho, ordered that the case file be sent to Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The case was adjourned until Feb.14, for mention.

The accused, who resides at Iyana-Olopa Estate, Akobo, Ibadan, is facing a charge of rape.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan.7, at about 2 p.m. at his residence.

Opaleye alleged that the accused unlawful had carnal knowledge of the woman without her consent.

” The accused, who offered to help the woman cross the road, lured her to his house which was nearby and raped her.

” She later told her mother what happened and case was reported at Akobo Police Station, ” he said.

The offence contravened the provisions of Section 357 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
