A 34-year-old contractor, Abubakar Adams, on Monday appeared before a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, charged with converting N230,000 belonging to an associate.

Adams of Dei-dei Junction, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that one Aregbeshola Wasiu, the complainant, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Feb.1.

He said that the complainant entrusted a stamp concrete mat to the defendant to use on the terms that whatever money was realised, it would be shared.
The prosecutor said that the defendant, however, did not remit the proceeds from the use of the equipment, but dishonestly converted N230, 000 realised to his personal use.

Olanipekun said that the offences contravened Sections 314, 309 and 322 of the Penal Code

The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the matter until Feb. 27 for hearing.
