NiMet predicts cloudy, sunny weather for Friday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has predicted cloudy, sunny and hazy weather conditions with chances of localised thunderstorms over most parts of the country on Friday.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook on Thursday in Abuja, predicted partly cloudy conditions over the central cities with likelihood of localised thunderstorm over Mambilla Plateau in the morning hours.

It also predicted chances of localised thunderstorms over Abuja, Makurdi, Lafia, Niger, Lokoja and Mambilla Plateau in the afternoon and evening with day and night temperatures over of 30 to 39 and 21 to 26 degrees Celsius.

The agency predicted that northern states would experience sunny and hazy conditions with day and night temperatures of 35 to 40 and 18 to 26 degrees Celsius.

According to NiMet, southern states will experience cloudy conditions are expected except Obudu, Lagos and Ijebu-Ode where there are prospects of localised thunderstorm in the morning hour.

“Later in the day there are chances of localised thunderstorms over Oshogbo, Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Abeokuta, Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Enugu, Awka, Obudu, Ogoja, Ikom, Eket, Calabar, Port-Harcourt, Yenagoa and Uyo with day and night temperatures of 27 to 36 and 20 to 26 degrees Celsius.

“There is influx of moisture in the country and more is expected, localised thunderstorms are anticipated over the southern and central states.

“There are chances of sunny and hazy condition over the northern state in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
