Controversial gubernatorial aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Hon. Ladi Adebutu has vowed to mobilise support for the governorship ambition of the flag bearer of the Allied People’s movement (ÀPM), Hon Abdulkabir Adekunle.

Adebutu’s adoption of ÀPM candidate was coming on the heels of his final loss of PDP’s governorship ticket Senator Kashamu Buruji via a Federal High Court judgment delivered yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Speaking to journalist in Abeokuta, on behalf of Hon. Adebutu and his alliance team, the PDP factional Chairman Alhaji Sikirulah Ogundele said the party’s adoption of the APM candidate was based on his credibility and that of his principal Gov Ibikunle Amosun.

“PDP of Ogun state still remains PDP of Ogun state and the members are very very intact, and that has convinced me that we are one in Ogun state and I, as the chairman still remain the chairman of PDP in Ogun state.

“We have just had the thought of considering the credibility, uprightness, the quality, responsiveness of Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade and we have considered it necessarily that Ogun state is a well sustained state where all these qualities that I have mentioned must be taking into cognizance before choosing who will lead us.

“We believe in continuity, we also considered the high level of own candidate and one would not have expected that a primary 4 dropped out will come and lead us or to be the governor of Ogun state or to be aspiring to be the governor of Ogun state.

“Somebody that has criminal record, somebody that is criminally inclined, somebody that is known to be a fugitive. That is the person and the candidate who INEC has given to us as PDP’s governorship candidate and we of high level of credibility have thoroughly looked into it and we have assess the best, irrespective of the party for the sake of moving the state forward, for the sake of the civilization that is being recorded for the state.

“This state has produced two or three President while one was not sworn in, presently we are having a vice President and we have first engineer, first in almost everything.

“Therefore we cannot afford to have a criminal or fugitive to be our candidate, I personally went to University and I cannot be part of campaign team of somebody who is criminally minded, somebody who did not finish primary school, so that is some of the reasons why we have adopted Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade of APM.

“We have freedom to associate, adopt and to vote for whoever we all think will do it better. Politics is all about responsiveness, credibility, been outright. We found all that in the APM candidate and as I’m speaking with you, the entire state exco members, entire local government exco members and the wards exco members have graciously adopted the candidature of Hon Akinlade.

“And come on Saturday we have directed our members to and go vote for Hon Akinlade because the constitution permit us free association, freedom to exercise our civic right according to our conscience, he concluded.
