Gov. Wike wins Rivers governorship election

Governor Nyesome Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been declared the winner of March 9 Rivers State gubernatorial election.

According to the returning office, Wike polled a total of 886,264 votes to emerge the winner of the gubernatorial poll and re-election for another term of four years.

The candidate of the AAC who came second in the poll scored 173,859 votes.

Thus, Wike won the election with a margin of 712,405 votes.

“That Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) having satisfied the requirements of the law and having scored the highest number of votes is hereby returned and elected,”the State Returning Officer, Professor Teddy Charles Adias who is also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Otueke,Ogbia in Bayelsa State said while making the declaration.
