Rivers Election: Wike takes massive lead after collation of results from 15 LGAs

Governor Nyesom Wike has taken a massive lead over him main challenger,  Biokpomabo Awara of the African Action Congress, AAC as the collation of the results from 15 Local Governments Areas where governorship elections were held on 9, March indicated.  

A sum up of results from the 15 Local Government Areas as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission indicated that the governor who ran on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party garnered 426,369 votes against 129,855 votes secured by the AAC candidate.

With the results, Wike is leading his main challenger by 296,514 votes.

Rivers has 23 Local Governments, but INEC said only results from 17 Local Governments are ready.

INEC suspended collation and announcement of results on Tuesday after the announcement of the result from the 15 Local Government Areas.

 The Electoral Commission says it will resume at 10am on Wednesday while a rerun will hold next week in six other local governments.
