Nassarawa Eggon (Nasarawa) – Mr Godwin Alaku, the Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State along with 500 others on Monday defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defectors were received in Nasarawa-Eggon by Mr Aliyu Bello, the state Secretary of the party.

Bello said that the APC-led administration in the state would continue to embark on more people-oriented projects.

He said Gov. Al-Makura administration would embark on the construction of more rural roads to improve the standard of living of the rural dwellers.

“I am happy and the party is also happy for your courage to defect from your party to the APC in the state and I am assuring you of a level-play ground for the development of the party in the state and the country.

“Your courage to join the APC is worthy of emulation considering the developmental strides of the present administration in the state.”

Bello, however, called on the people of the state to support the state government to enable it to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.

He also urged them to be their brother’s keepers irrespective of ethnic, political and religion affiliation.

Earlier, Alaku said that their decision to defect to APC was informed by Gov. Al-Makura’s leadership qualities.

“Gov.Tanko Al-Makura has done a lot and had touched the lives of the people of the state positively, especially in the area of road construction, free education, construction of classrooms and modern hospitals across the state, among others.

“We also observed that Gov. Al-Makura carried everybody along irrespective of tribe, religious and political inclination which form the basis of our decision to join the APC government in the state.”

Alaku promised to work tirelessly for the victory of the party in 2015 general election and to promote peaceful co-existence among the people for the overall development of the area, the state, and the country.
