President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has intervened in the growing dispute over unpaid appearance fees between the Super Eagles players and the Nigeria Football Federation.

Following reports that the Nigeria national team skipped training on Thursday evening over unpaid bonuses, President Jonathan has assured the players that their outstanding appearance fees would be paid promptly.

That assurance from the President has seen the team go ahead with a trip from Campinas to Brasilia where they will prepare for a second round match against France at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

And Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo is quoted as stating the team has put the matter behind them and are now fully focused on the match against France on Monday.

The dispute apparently stemmed from a misunderstanding of the amount each player will receive after qualifying from the group stage, with the players believed to feel they should be getting $30,000 each rather than $15,000.
